Surfing and photography have always gone closely hand in hand, as a hugely aspirational sport, it is one that transgresses very well into still imagery. With the development of modern camera's and digital photography there are more surf photo's than ever before, and as a result photographers need to push the boundaries even harder to stand above the rest.
These images were sent to us over the weekend, and I was truly blown away by them. They are photo's of the waves themselves, rather than of people surfing them, and can you think of another sport when the playing arena itself creates such a varied and impressive platform for imagery?
These photo's were taken by American photographer Clark Little, and they are truly breathtaking. You can only imagine the positions that he had to get himself into to take the shots, making sure that he was right in the impact zone in order to get the most powerful images, and you can be assured that he would have taken a handful of heavy beatings in order to capture these shots. But when you leave the water with these in your camera, surely it is all worth it!
